Giving back helps others, but it also feels good!
We are a small band of marketers and even we need a boost on a rare occasion. Our team is full of passion for our clients and the community, so giving the team a way to give back within their work is important.
We help conduct a conference for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) called LEAD which helps bring resources for fundraising, enrollment and leadership to the community. This includes an Awards recognition program which started in 2015 and continues.
We started a Coats & Blankets drive in 2010 and it grew every year for six years with new partners in giving. We are getting ready to start a new project in 2019 to benefit the education community.
We could go on for days about the community. But we'll limit this to just a few more things. To help non-profits grow, we conducted a series of free workshops called Innovation Lab. Several of our members sit on non-profit boards and volunteer with churches and the recovery community. Tina Blake has recently been named as a Goodmon Fellow by Leadership Triangle, a non-profit organization which builds leadership capacity and promotes regionalism across the separate communities of the Triangle.
We feel so strongly about it, we give our team members one paid day a year to volunteer. Some volunteer work is done for clients, some is done because we love the charity or cause! Each person picks what speaks to them. Here's a partial list:
- American Saddlebred Association of the Carolinas
- Team American Saddlebred
- Cause for Paws
- UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball (Co-Chair)
- American Saddlebred Legacy Foundation
- And charity walks!
- Dereck Whittenburg Foundation
- Raleigh Rescue Mission
- Special Olympics
- The SISI
We also encourage our clients to build community programs. In addition to employees feeling charged, people also like to do business with businesses who give back!
