15 Events Mark 15th Anniversary!
vitalink® celebrates its fifteenth anniversary this year! The strategic marketing think tank was founded in 1996 by Jeanne Frazer after she recognized a need for a small marketing firm that would partner with its clients instead of simply providing commodity services.
In recognition of our anniversary, vitalink will be participating in 15 community service or pro-bono events over the course of the year. We have already started with:
1. A donation to the American Red Cross for tornado victims
2. Pro-bono graphic services provided to REACH
3. Pro-bono graphic services provided to the Junior League of Raleigh for its Pick + Pull fundraising event in May held at Cameron Village.
We’ll publish more activities throughout the remainder of 2011!
vitalink’s Mike Steele sits on REACH Board
Creative Director Mike Steele has joined the Board of REACH in Huntington, West Virginia. REACH is a program funded by Cabell County to provide a single point of contact for substance/alcohol abuse treatment. The REACH acronym stands for:
Residential Placement
Early Intervention
Awareness and Education
Creation of Vouchers
Housing Development
Mike has been heavily involved with substance abuse programs, particularly those geared toward those in their teens and early twenties. He brings not only his incredible creative expertise, but the perspective of a recovering alcoholic to the Board. Congratulations Mike!
Growing Your Garden by Kathy Horn
Every year when spring rolls around, I’m outside digging in the dirt and planting things that (I hope!) will grow and flourish. Strategic marketing is a bit like growing a garden. You’re thinking that’s really stretching it, aren’t you? Not really. Here’s how they are the same:
1. Your garden will grow best with a good “foundation” of prepared soil, with the rocks removed and the clay or poor soil broken up and mixed with peat or “cow power.” Your marketing efforts benefit from research and planning—preparing the marketing “environment.”
2. The seeds and starter plants need to be of the type that will grow well in my climate. Your marketing tactics should be appropriate for your type of business and target market.
3. Water and fertilizer will help my garden grow. I’ll monitor the weather to ensure my garden gets enough water and mark my calendar to fertilize at regular intervals. Marketing efforts should also be monitored for effectiveness on a regular basis and the inputs adjusted when necessary.
4. Bad bugs and weeds can harm my garden before I enjoy the fruits of my labor. I’ll be watching for invasive weeds and bugs and treat if they attack. On the marketing side, you always have to worry about your competition!
So as you are out there working in your garden, give some thought to your marketing plan. If you need more information about strategic marketing, give us a call at 919.850.0605 or email us at cs@vitalinkweb.com.
